The countdown to London 2012 is ticking away, and this summer proves to be an exciting time for archers. Not only are there multiple blockbusters currently in theaters featuring dynamo archery, but Canada has two archers headed to London this summer, one of which is a past member of the Hart House Archery Club.

Crispin Duenas is the highest ranked recurve archer in Canada and will be heading towards his second Olympic games in London. Despite the boom in popularity, the archery events may not be well televised in Canada, but be sure to stay up to date with the schedule and watch the best archers in the world shoot for gold.

Medieval March Break at ROM recap

Mediaeval March Break at the Royal Ontario Museum was hugely successful for the Hart House Archery Club. The archery range we provided was as wildly popular as we always are, and we had between 6,000 to 8,000 people try out archery. We also educated at least twice that number in archery equipment throughout the ages and were featured on the cover of the Metro and inside The Toronto Star and The Globe and Mail as well as on CityTV and the radio. Many thanks are extended to the ROM for allowing HHAC a forum to let people try out archery and all our club members who helped make this a great success.

Archery D&D

In between beginner lessons a few of us started talking about Dungeons and Dragons. Nerdyness aside, the conversation eventually led to a very important question: Archery + D&D = ?

Introducing Archery D&D!

The basic concept is that shooting should replace as much of the dice action as possible in D&D, for example the combined score of 2 arrows would replace d20. Of course there would also be mechanics in place to ensure the game is challenging but enjoyable to all level of archers.

We'll be running a beta of this game very soon, if you're interested or want to join, please email us at the usual address at the top of the page.

In other news, we're finally done with beginner lessons and regular shooting will begin next week. Our hours will be 5-8pm Tuesdays and Thursdays

Valentine Approaches

There are countless traditions on Valentine's day, be it a blossoming rose or a hand in marriage. Here in HHAC we have our Valentine's day fun shoot, prizes will be up for grabs and you're sure to have some great fun.

On a completely different topic, have you ever wondered where your score cards go after you submitting them? Here's your answer, introducing HHAC Score Record page. Feedbacks are welcome.

More AGM Stuff

In case you have not noticed, the club is run by a member elected committee and you can be on it! We'll be looking for people with a real interest in helping the club and the commitment of at least 2 years.

Four places will be open for grab in the coming AGM, and nomination will be accepted from now until the beginning of the meeting. All nominations should be handwritten and submitted to Ari (The really loud guy who comes to the range every now and then). Read the policy manual and I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have about the committee.

Valentine's day is coming up and with it the second fun shoot of the year. It will be held on the 14th and the 16th Feb, you may shoot on both days but will only be eligible for prizes on one of the 2 days. 16th's shoot will be slightly shorter as the AGM will take place immediately after.

The range will be closed (officially or otherwise) during the reading week.

Bragging right is at stake with the Waterloo match, so don't forget that. :)

Annual General Meeting (AGM) <Last Updated on 1st.Feb>

The AGM is a club committee meeting where everyone is invited (encouraged, even) to participate. We will also hold committee election in AGM, so this is the prefect chance for you to become more involved in the club by joining the committee. For all those who are interested in running for the committee you should familiarize yourself with the club policy manual here.

The AGM will be held on 16th, Feb at 7pm and will take approx. 1 hour. Regular shooting will resume after the election have taken place.

In other news, the butts need to have a rebuild/refurbish done fairly soon, and it's going to happen on a weekend taking 4-5 hours. Let us know if you're interested in giving a hand.

I have also updated the UTvsUW tournament details below, new information are in italic.
