Sept.

is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing
of Dr.
Arie Shachar after
a short illness. Dr.
Shachar, a leading scholar in his field,
was
Director of the Halbert Centre for two decades, the first President
of the
Israel
Association
for Canadian Studies, and since 1999, Chairman of its Academic
Committee. He will be sorely missed.
