Sept. 7, 2006: It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Dr. Arie Shachar after a short illness. Dr. Shachar, a leading scholar in his field, was Director of the Halbert Centre for two decades, the first President of the Israel Association for Canadian Studies, and since 1999, Chairman of its Academic Committee. He will be sorely missed.

Sept. 1, 2006: Halbert Exchange Program welcomes two new Post-Doctoral Fellows: Carol Kidron and Mohammed Saif-Alden Wattad.

The Halbert Exchange Program, based at the Munk School of Global Affairs in the University of Toronto, is designed to foster and support collaborative research networks between faculty and students from the University of Toronto and The Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Applicants from the social sciences, humanities, education and law are welcome to apply to either the Halbert Network Fellowship (for Faculty) or the Halbert Post-Doctoral Fellowship.
