In preparing work, all students are expected to uphold ethical standards of
conduct. Plagiarism will not be tolerated. This means that:
· unless collaborative work is called for by the assignment, you are
expected to complete your work independently.
· all sources (written, oral, or electronic) used in an assignment must
be cited. Whether you quote directly or paraphrase, you must document your citation
according to a standard format such as that presented in Writer’s Choice
(M. Northey and M. Procter), MLA Handbook, or Chicago Manual of Style.
· You may not hand in the same paper for credit in two (or more) courses.
A list of suggested topics is included below. Choose your topic early and be sure to check it with me.

You are expected to attend all classes and to be punctual and attentive. Everyone is expected to contribute to class discussions in a consistent and productive manner. Given the relatively small size of this class and the theoretical nature of the material, it is imperative that students come to class prepared to discuss the assigned articles and films.
