The M.Sc. specialty programs are individualized according to clinical specialty discipline and/or respective research field. The program meets the Commission on Dental Accreditation guidelines for eligibility for Specialty, Fellowship or Board Certification in the following disciplines:
The M.Sc./Specialty degree is accepted by the Council of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario as the educational qualification for specialist certification. The specialist programs are suitable for dentists intending to take either Part I or Part II of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada or the American Specialty Board examinations. Graduates of non-accredited (international) dental programs may make application for RCDS(O) Specialty Certificate of Registration upon successful program completion and successful completion of the RCDC specialty examination. All M.Sc. specialty programs require a minimum of three years full-time registration, with the exception of the M.Sc. in Dental Public Health - 2 years; Oral Pathology - 3 years; Oral Medicine - 3 years; Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery & Anaesthesia, and Oral Pathology & Medicine - 4 years. Ph.D. specialty programs require approximately 6 years of full-time study.
