The Review welcomes articles on any aspect of music research or
criticism as well as reports on musical conferences held in Canada and brief
communications. authors who wish to have a manuscript considered for publication
should send three copies to the Editor:

The following guidelines are offered:
- Since the Review has a policy of "blind" review,
information identifying the author should only appear on a separate page.
- The text of the submitted manuscript should be double-spaced with
footnotes. The author of an accepted article will be asked to provide a copy on
an MS-DOS disk, preferably in WordPerfect. Detailed information is
available in the Guidelines for the Preparation of
Disk Files.
- The Review generally follows the recommendations of the Chicago
Manual of Style (14th ed., 1993). First references to material should give
a full bibliographic citation; further references should be abbreviated to
author, short title, and page, unless reference is made to the work cited in the
immediately preceding note, in which case "Ibid." should be used. The
form for notes (documentary-note or humanities style) is shown in the following
examples:
- Books: Léo-Pol Morin, "Les devoirs du critique," in
Papiers de musique (Montreal: Librairie d'Action canadienne-française,
1930), 163-75.
- Articles: Helmut Kallmann, "A Century of Music Periodicals in Canada,"
The Canadian Music Journal 1, no.1 (1956): 37-43.
- Foreign-language quotations should be translated into English in the
article. The original should be reproduced in the notes.
- Camera-ready copy of music examples and high-quality glossy illustrations
must be supplied separately with an indication of where they should be inserted
in the text.The author has the responsibility of obtaining permissions for the
use of copyrighted materials. Captions should include full identification of the
example or illustration and all necessary credits or acknowledgements.
- A summary of the article (no more than 100 words) and a bio-bibliographical
note about the author (no more than 75 words) are required. The abstract should
be written in a form suitable for inclusion in the Répertoire
international de littérature musicale (RILM).
