    The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme offers university graduates and who are Canadian citizens under 35 years of age (in principle) the opportunity to work in Japan for one year. There are two types of positions: Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) and Assistant Language Teacher (ALT). CIRs serve in local government organizaions or related organizations, assisting in projects related to international activities and in language instruction for government employees and local residents. ALTs are placed mainly in local boards of education or schools, and engage in language instruction. Selection is based on an application and an interview.
