A Concordance to the Poetic Works of Taras Shevchenko

$250 per 4-volume set (cloth) | Order

About the Book
This magnificent four-volume publication of more than 3,200 pages is a complete alphabetical index of the words contained in Shevchenko's Ukrainian- and Russian-language poetry, showing both the places where each word may be found and its immediate textual setting.

The Concordance is a major milestone, being the first and only instance of this genre in Ukrainian studies. It promises to be an important and useful guidebook not only for literary critics, but for linguists and lexicographers as well.

The Concordance permits quick and easy access to Shevchenko's every word and provides each and every context in which the word is used. Thus, scholars can easily trace nuances of meaning and syntactic or grammatical structures and investigate major themes or topics. To assist researchers, the edition contains a dozen appendixes that show word frequencies and other statistics.

A Concordance to the Poetic Works of Taras Shevchenko, is published jointly by the Shevchenko Scientific Society (USA) and the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies Press, is an invaluable research tool for scholars and students of the legacy of Ukraine's national poet, Taras Shevchenko.
