The Cinema Studies Institute is a vibrant hub of screenings, seminars, and special events. The Institute often invites directors, screenwriters, film scholars and alumni to speak to our undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and the community at large. CINSSU, the undergraduate student union, conducts a popular series of Free Friday Films at Innis Town Hall. CSGSU, the graduate student union, organizes a graduate colloquium each year as well.
CSI Special Events
The Cinema Studies Institute hosts various special events, sometimes in collaboration with the Jackman Humanities Institute (JHI) and other departments at the University of Toronto. Recent guests include Canadian filmmakers Atom Egoyan, Guy Maddin, and Ron Mann, co-creator and producer of Gossip Girl Stephanie Savage, co-creator and producer of the Degrassi series Linda Schuyler, Canadian TV mogul Moses Znaimer, and Dragons' Den producer Stuart Coxe.

Innis Town Hall and Free Friday Films
Innis Town Hall is a popular venue for many festivals and events that may be of great interest to film buffs and scholars. Recent activities that have taken place at Innis Town Hall include the Toronto Reel Asian International Festival, Hot Docs, the Toronto International Film Festival, and the annual Academy Awards screening in HD.
During the school year, CINSSU also presents a series of Free Friday Films at Innis Town Hall, as well as academic lectures, special guests, career talks and more. See also the CINSSU Twitter feed on our home page.
