Dramaturgy for documentaries?
As everyone knows, documentaries aren’t based on screenplays but on questions, research, and the lives of real people. Nevertheless every filmmaker is a kind of storyteller and wants to reach and touch the audience. Dramaturgy for documentaries is based on classical narratology but has specific genre elements:
theme and structure; event and collision;
dramatic and aesthetic conflict; editing and time / the chronotopos;
social actors and characters
