Dr.
Mingzhen Chen is a remote sensing scientist at Department
of Geography and Program in Planning, University of Toronto,
Canada.
Educated
and worked in China, the United States and now a research
fellow in Canada. Dr. Chen’s research area include
remote sensing, digital image processing, geographic information
system (GIS) , natural resources inventory and management,
soil and terrestrial vegetation dynamics and modeling, artificial
intelligence, GIS system design and implementation. Now
his research has been focused on terrestrial vegetation
dynamics and modeling (e.g. retrieval of canopy leaf area
index (LAI) using remote sensing imageries) ; Land Cover
and Land Use; and Remote Sensed data processing and analysis
especially in MODIS, ASTER, ETM, VEGETATION, ALI, AVIRIS,
Hyperion, MISR, optical remote sensing data, etc..
Mingzhen
Chen is one of the core members in the project “Confronting
Global Warming: Enhancing China’s Capacity for Carbon
Sequestration”, funded by Canada International Development
Agency (CIDA), as a Remote Sensing and GIS Group Co-chair
from Canada.
