CIHR Biotherapeutics (BT) Training Grant
Travel Award Rules and Info

The following guidelines apply to trainee travel to meetings :

1. The trainee must be a member of the Training Program.

2. The Training Program will provide a maximum of $1500 per trainee per year, a year being defined as beginning September 1 and ending August 31. The trainee must make every effort to secure the most economical travel and accommodation arrangements. Unused travel funding can not be carried forward to subsequent years.

3. The trainee must present a poster or oral presentation of his/her work related to BT at the conference and the conference should be related to the general field of BT. If there is no opportunity to present a poster or oral presentation, a special request, in writing, can still be made with an explanation why it is important to attend this conference, meeting or workshop. Please be clear in defining the meeting's relevance to BT. Furthermore, in this situation, the trainee will be required to submit a one page summary of the meeting to the program.

4. The trainee should acknowledge the Training Program in his/her poster/abstract/talk (photos of the trainee giving a talk or poster are welcome for Program publicity purposes).

5. The trainee must submit the abstract to Rob Reedijk with a request for travel fellowship prior to attending the conference. Please state the name, dates, and location of the conference.

6. The trainee must provide proof of registration and abstract submission upon return from the conference and present all invoices to Rob Reedijk for reimbursement. If the trainee obtains a travel award from the conference or some other organization, this amount is deductible from the total expenses.

Eligibility: Only Biotherapeutics Trainees in the program are eligible to apply.
