To use the File Transfer Application, you should be using a browser with 128-bit encryption and Accept All Cookies enabled.
In Netscape, see Edit > Preferences > Advanced. On lower right, select radio button "Accept all cookies".
The following instructions will help you identify if your browser is 128-bit.
If you need to upgrade, the web sites are also given. Note that downloading a browser installation file may take 3-45 minutes, depending on your connection speed. We recommend you contact your network administrator before downloading a new browser.
NETSCAPE
1. Open Netscape.
2. Type http://cgi.netscape.com/cgi-bin/su/intro.cgi
in the Location box. Press Enter.
3. Click on Your Installed
Software under Software Updates at the left of the screen, or in the centre
of the screen under " 4 Quick Steps to the Latest Software", click on the Start
Here button.
4. The centre of the screen will display a message Communicator Update information and give both the version and encryption associated with it.
5. To upgrade, go to the
following website: http://home.netscape.com/download
6. Select the appropriate flavour (Win 95/98/NT, Mac, Other Platforms) of Netscape Communicator 4.7 128-bit Strong Encryption. Follow the screen instructions.
INTERNET EXPLORER
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Select Help … About Internet
Explorer from the menu.
3. The displayed dialog
box will tell you both the version and the encryption (Cipher strength).
4. To upgrade for Version
5.0, click on Update Information. You will be taken to the download website
listed below. Following the screen instructions.
To upgrade if you are using an earlier version of Internet Explorer, close the Help window and go to the download website and follow the screen instructions.
