Research Ethics in Asian Studies I

We will review two set of literature: doing fieldwork in Asia and ethical issues in qualitative research. The core readings are available from the Event Coordinator at Asian Institute, Room 227N. Participants are expected to have reviewed the core readings before attending the workshop. At the meeting, we will discuss assumptions, practices, and implications of qualitative research ethics in Asian Studies. Please contact Professor Ping-Chun Hsiung on your participation.

Catalyst(s) will be invited to discuss ethical issues pertinent to ethnographic fieldwork in South Korea in particular and/or East Asia in general. The aim is to facilitate graduate student's preparation of fieldwork.
