Science Frontiers - Stem Cells
Teaching old cells young tricks: stem cell researchers can turn back the clock on mature cells, reverting them to immature cells that can generate any tissue in the body. On May 10th, Janet Rossant and Derek van der Kooy, two U of T professors involved in stem cell research, and Helen Blau the director of the Baxter Laboratory for Stem Cell Biology and Stanford Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, will address the hype and hope behind stem cell research. The evening will be moderated by Nora Young, host of CBC Spark Radio show.
Professor Janet Rossant is the Principal Investigator in Developmental & Stem Cell Biology and the Chief of Research at The Hospital for Sick Children.
Professor Derek van der Kooy is a member of the Institute of Medical Sciences, Department of Medical Biophysics, Department of Molecular Genetics
and the Terrence Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research.
